In this Help article, we will show you how to use the Olive Tree Bible Overview in your Bible study.
We will be using our iOS app as an example, but these steps should work with most of our apps on supported devices. If you haven't downloaded your resource yet, you will find the download steps for your device(s) in this Help article.
Open in the Resource Guide
This resource is specifically designed for use within the Study Center, so we will start with the Resource Guide! We recommend that you first open your preferred Bible translation (See: Using Bibles) in the main window and then open the Resource Guide in the Study Center.
First, select the green 'Open Study Center' tab.
Next, select the 'Resource Guide' tab (lightbulb icon) to make sure you have the Resource Guide open. By scrolling down, you will be able to see all entries in the Olive Tree Bible Overview that are related to the text you are viewing in the main window.
The Olive Tree Bible Overview helps you discover new insights in your Bible study with overviews of historical and biblical connections, explanations of major themes, and biographical sketches of main characters.
Here we see 'Outlines' has three results:
Tap on Olive Tree Bible Overview to see more details of the three results.
Next, tap on a result to open the full text from that entry.
Olive Tree Bible Overview also provides introductions to each book of the Bible with historical background, relevant context, and detailed outlines. You can easily find these in the 'Introductions' section, as seen below.
Another feature of the Olive Tree Bible Overview is linked verses! As you scroll through and see Scripture references, you can tap on a reference to see the passage in a pop-up window.
Open in the Main Window
You can also open the Olive Tree Bible Overview in the main window.
This option will allow you to navigate into the Table of Contents for the Olive Tree Bible Overview. To access the Table of Contents, tap on the navigation menu.
This will reveal the Table of Contents.
