In the Olive Tree Bible App, the Resource Guide helps you quickly access relevant study material for the passage you're reading without needing to manually search through your library.
The Resource Guide is part of the Study Center, which also includes Parallel, Notes, and Search All. It automatically gathers and displays content from your library that relates to the passage currently open in your main Bible window. Depending on your library and settings, you may see commentaries, cross references, maps, notes, and other study content.
This article explains how to open the Resource Guide, what each section includes, and how to customize it to fit your study workflow.
How to Open the Resource Guide
The Resource Guide appears in the Study Center. To open it, select Open Study Center.
Select Resource Guide.
Once opened, the Resource Guide will display multiple sections of content related to the Bible text you are viewing in the main window.
Understanding the Resource Guide Sections
Each section contains a different type of study material. A number next to a Bible or book indicates how many related items are available for the current passage.
Related Verses
This section shows cross references, similar to what you might see in the margins of a printed Bible. Select a Bible to view the cross references from that translation.
Select a reference to view it in a pop-up window.
Commentaries
The Commentaries section includes commentaries and study Bible notes related to the passage.
Select a commentary or Study Bible to open it.
If the commentary covers a larger passage, select the section you want to view.
Bibles
The Bibles section shows other Bible translations related to the passage.
Select your desired translation.
Videos
The Videos section displays BibleProject videos related to the passage you're reading.
Select a video to open and watch it.
You can also select this icon to expand the video to full screen.

People, Topics, and Places
This section shows articles about people, topics, and places related to the passage.
- People: Key figures mentioned in the text
- Topics: Theological or thematic subjects
- Places: Geographic locations
Select an entry to view the available articles.
Select a result to read the full dictionary article.
Maps, Charts, and Images
This section gathers visual content such as maps, charts, and images that relate to your passage.
Select an item to view it.

Sermons
The Sermons section shows sermons from your library related to the passage you're viewing.
Select a sermon to view it.
Outlines
The Outlines section provides structured overviews of Bible passages.
Select an outline to view it.
Introductions
The Introductions section provides background information about books of the Bible, including authorship, historical context, and themes.
Select an introduction to view it.
Notes and Tags
This section displays your personal study content related to the passage you're viewing.
- Notes: Personal notes you've created while studying the Bible. See the Notes help article for more details on creating and managing notes.
- Tags: Labels you've applied to organize and group your study content. See the Tags help article for more details on using tags.
Select an item to open, review, or edit it.
Using the Link Feature
Many sections include a link (lock) icon that controls whether the Resource Guide follows the passage you're viewing in your Bible:
Locked: The Resource Guide follows the passage you're viewing and updates as you scroll through your Bible.
Unlocked: You can browse the Resource Guide independently without changing the passage in your main Bible window.
Customizing the Resource Guide
Select the Settings icon.
Select Advanced Settings.
Select Resource Guide.
Enable or Disable Sections
Select the toggle next to a section to enable or disable it.
You can also choose which Bibles and books appear within each section. Select Advanced View.
Select a section of the Resource Guide to view its available resources. Use the slider next to each resource to show or hide it in the Resource Guide.
Reorder Sections
Select a section in the Resource Guide list in Advanced Settings. Then click and drag sections or resources into your preferred order.
