Opening and Adjusting the Split Window
The Study Center is in the split window. It can be opened by tapping the green bar at the bottom of the screen that says 'Open Study Center'. If this bar is not showing, tap the screen once to bring up the toolbar.
Adjusting the split window size depends on whether you have your device in portrait or landscape.
Portrait Mode
When your app is in portrait, tap and drag the three-line icon in the upper right corner to adjust the size.
Double tap the three-line icon to open the split window full screen. Double tap the icon again to return the split window to its previous spot on the screen.
Landscape Mode
When your app is in landscape, the tab in the center of the border between the main and split window will allow you to adjust the size.
If you drag the bar far enough that the split window is too small, the Study Center will minimize automatically.
Study Center Options
There are four Study Center options that can be opened in the split window. As you navigate between the different tabs, your place will be saved. Here are the options:
Resource Guide
As you read along in your Bible, the Resource Guide follows and looks in your Library for any information that is relevant to your reading. The information in the Resource Guide will update automatically as you scroll through your resource in the main window.
The Resource Guide is designed to move quickly between information from your downloaded resources that relates to the Bible text in the main window. By design, the Resource Guide tab will return to the menu when you open the app again.
To save your place in the text, we recommend Parallel (see next section). Parallel is designed for reading two resources in parallel for long periods of time.
Parallel
The Parallel tab allows you to view a library item parallel to your main window. With this layout, you can compare different translations or view a commentary or study notes next to the Bible text in the main window.
Notes
In the Notes tab, you can view, edit, and create notes.
Lookup
In the Lookup tab, you can see all of the information in your library that relates to a particular subject. When you first tap this tab, you will be presented with a list of possible topics. Tap a topic to view all the results. If you don't see a topic you want to tap on, use the search option at the top of the list to locate a topic quickly. Tap the topic at the top of the window to switch between topics.
Linking Windows
While using the Resource Guide or Parallel window, you can link your main window with the Study Center when you turn on this setting in the Settings menu. Follow the steps below to edit which windows are linked:
- Tap the Settings icon on the toolbar (gear icon).
- Tap Advanced Settings.
- Tap Scrolling Settings.
- Window Linking settings can be found at the bottom of this list.
When Window Linking is turned on, you will see one of the following icons when you look in the lower right corner of the Resource Guide or Parallel window.
Unlinked - This icon indicates that the windows are currently unlinked. If you scroll in the main window while this icon is showing, the Resource Guide/Parallel window will not scroll along. Tapping the Unlinked icon will re-link the windows.
Linked - This icon indicates that the Windows are currently linked. If you scroll in the main window, the Resource Guide/Parallel window will follow along. However, if you scroll in the Resource Guide/Parallel window the link will be broken. If you tap this icon, you will lock the window link.
Locked Link - This icon indicates that the Window Link is locked. When the link is locked, the link will not break, unless you tap this icon again to unlock the link.
