Overview:

Navigating the Olive Tree Bible App makes it easy to explore Scripture and study books. The navigation menu provides quick access to books, chapters, verses, and additional content in your books. This guide will show you how to open and customize the navigation menu, including Grid and List Views and shading options.

Navigating:

You can open the Navigation Menu by tapping the location reference at the top of the window.

When the toolbar is showing in the main window, tap here:

When the Navigation Menu is open, there are several different options for how to view its contents (Grid and List). These can be found by selecting the Options (three-dot) icon in the upper right corner of the menu.

Grid View

The Grid View is the default view for verse-based books like Bibles and commentaries. This view makes it easy to select a book, chapter, and verse.

Tap on a Bible book to start, then a chapter number, and then tap on a verse number. The app will go immediately to that place in the Bible that is open in the main window. 

List View

The List View will automatically appear for books that are not verse based, like dictionaries, encyclopedias, handbooks, etc. List View can also be used for verse-based books if you prefer a list with the full names of Bible books.

List View shows the Table of Contents for the book. This can be helpful because it shows material outside of the book/chapter/verse in the Grid View, like maps, charts, profiles, articles, etc. 

When viewing a Bible in List View, you can sort the books alphabetically. Tap the Options icon and select Alphabetical Order.

Shading

There is also an option to shade the Grid view to show the classifications of the Bible books. Tap on the three-dot icon in the upper right corner and tap Enable Shading to turn this option on.

Below is a list of the different groupings in the shaded text: 

  • Pentateuch/Law
  • Historical
  • Poetry
  • Major Prophets
  • Minor Prophets
  • Gospels
  • History of the Christian Church
  • Paul's Epistles
  • General Letters
  • Apocalyptic
