Android - Saved Passages

What are Saved Passages?

Saved Passages let you quickly bookmark a verse or passage you want to return to later — without adding any visual markings like notes or highlights. They're a simple, clean way to keep track of meaningful Scripture passages as you study.

Verse-Based vs. Word-Based Saved Passages

There are two ways to create a saved passage in the app:

  • Word-Based: Select a specific word or phrase to save.
  • Verse-Based: Select a verse number to save the entire verse.

Note: Saved passages are always tied to the Bible translation in which they were created. Unlike notes and highlights, they do not appear across multiple translations.

Create a Saved Passage

You can create a saved passage when you're viewing text in your app. As mentioned above, saved passages can be tied either to a verse or a word or phrase. Here are the steps to create a saved passage:

  • Tap a verse number or select text and tap Save from the pop-up menu.

  • A pop-up window will appear that allows you to edit your saved passage.

Edit a Saved Passage

Once you have created a saved passage, you can either edit the saved passage right away or you can locate it later in the Menu under Saved Passages.

  • To edit a saved passage from the Menu, tap the Menu icon in the upper left corner.

  • When the edit screen is open, you can change the title ('label'), add or edit the tags, and assign the saved passage to a category.

  1. Tap in the box with the verse reference to delete the title and enter in a new one.
  2. The Options (three-dot) icon provides the following choices:
    1. Go to verse reference.
    2. Change Category
    3. Edit Tags
    4. Edit Title
    5. Delete
  3. The verse reference shows you where the saved passage was added in the Bible text.
  4. Tap 'Edit Tags' to add a tag or edit an existing tag.
  5. Tap Category to assign the saved passage to a category.
  6. The Created and Updated dates are there for your reference.

NOTE: If the text highlighted was manually selected instead of tapping the verse number, you'll see that highlighted text displayed under the verse reference. As my example was the single word 'light', you see it displayed there.

Delete a Saved Passage

You can delete a saved passage by following these steps:

  • Tap the Menu icon in the upper left corner.
  • Tap Saved Passages.
  • Locate the saved passage you want to delete and tap and hold it.
  • Tap 'Delete'.
