The Lookup feature gives you quick access to information from enhanced Bible dictionaries you’ve downloaded. It’s a fast way to find articles, definitions, and related content for biblical words, people, places, and topics.

This guide covers the two ways to use Lookup in the app: from Bible text and from the Study Center.
Lookup from Bible Text
While reading the Bible, select a word, then secondary-click (or hold the Control key and click) on the selected word. Select 'Lookup' from the menu that appears to get articles from your downloaded dictionaries for that word.
Relevant dictionary articles will display based on the word you selected. Lookup matches the selected word to dictionary entries, so looking up "baptized," for example, will not return an entry for "Baptism." If you see a list of options first, choose the one that best matches your interest. Select an entry to open and read the full article.
To return to your other Lookup results, select the back arrow in the upper-left corner.
To open the article in the main window, the Parallel window, or a new window, select the arrow in the upper-right corner.
Lookup in the Study Center
Within the Study Center, the Lookup tab allows you to see all of the information in your library that relates to a particular subject.
Open the Study Center by selecting the icon in the upper-right corner of the app.
Select the Search tab.
As you begin typing in the search field, suggestions will appear for biblical people, places, and topics. Select a suggestion to run a Lookup, or press Return to search your full library.
In this example, we selected Hope.
In the Hope Lookup, you'll see Articles from your downloaded resources that you can open to learn more about Hope. You may also see Maps related to the topic.
The "What does the Bible say about:" section lists related Bible passages, while My Notes shows any personal notes you've made about the topic.
Select the back arrow to return to the Lookup screen.

Customizing Lookup
You can adjust Lookup to match your preferences.
To access Advanced Settings, select Bible Study from the top menu bar and then choose Settings.
Select Lookup.
Here you can toggle resources on or off to choose which ones appear in Lookup results.
You can also change the order in which resources appear in your Lookup results.
Select Reorder.
Drag the resources into your preferred order.
Select Done when you're finished.
Check if a Dictionary Supports Lookup
Most dictionaries available in the Olive Tree Bible App are enhanced for use with Lookup.
To check whether a dictionary is enhanced, visit its product page on our website and look at the Features section. If Dictionary is listed, the dictionary is enhanced for Lookup.
