Mac - Settings

Settings for the app allow for customization options such as font size, color, scrolling style, hyperlink behavior and more. This article will give you an overview of the various settings, including brief explanations where clarity may be necessary. 

Quick Settings

While viewing the Bible text, select this icon to access Quick Settings:

• Font Size - This is a quick way to change the font in the main window.
• Select Theme - Choose between the default theme or low light theme. (Note: only the default theme can be customized.)
• Vertical Scrolling - Quickly change between vertical and horizontal scrolling.
• Font Face - This is a quick way to change the font face. 
• Advanced Settings - Access additional settings that are described below. 

Advanced Settings 

In the menu bar, select 'Bible Study' and then select 'Settings.' Advanced Settings can also be accessed from the Quick Settings as shown above.

• Fonts - Change the font face and size for the various windows of the app.
• Colors - Change the background and font colors.
• Themes - Choose between Dark or Black theme when your Mac is set to Dark Appearance. When your Mac is set to Light Appearance, only the Default (light theme) is allowed.
• Scrolling - Choose between vertical (swipe up/down) and horizontal (swipe left/right) scrolling. Choose whether the Resource Guide and Parallel Study Center tabs link to the main window.
• 'Go To'/ T.O.C. - Choose your default navigation views.
• Hyperlinks - Choose your default Bible for hyperlinks and how to open hyperlinks.
• Resource Guide - Edit and order the sections and books that appear in the Resource Guide.
• Display: 
  • Show Strong's Numbers
  • Verses Start on a New Line
  • Hide Notes and Highlights in Text
  • Hide Notes and Highlights in Popups
  • Multi-Column Text
  • Color Words of Jesus
  • Color Strong's Words
  • Reading Progress Display
• Copy Verse - Choose what to include when copying Bible text. (Please note, the verse reference will only appear if you copy by selecting a verse number in the Bible text.)
• Library:
  • Automatically Download Books
  • Furthest location for eBooks Prompt
  • Use Cellular Data for Audio Downloads
  • Show Expired Subscription Content
  • Show Store Items in Search Results
  • Manage Storage
  • Hidden Resources 
• Automatic Sync - Choose to automatically sync data.
• Reset Fonts and Colors - Reset all fonts and colors to the default. This can fix some display issues. 
• Privacy - Enable or disable privacy settings and personalization/messaging in the app. You can find out more about privacy settings here.
• Sidebar Settings - Customize your sidebar to show/hide Bibles, Favorites, and Recents. 

Customize Toolbar

The toolbar can be customized to change the icon display and order.

Choose Icon and Text, Icon Only, or Text Only to change the icon appearance. Select Customize Toolbar for the option to change icon placement. Note that the toolbar icons will begin to wiggle and you can now move the icons to change their order. The Sidebar and Study icons cannot be moved.
