What are Categories?

In the Olive Tree Bible App, categories help you organize annotations (notes, highlights and saved passages) into groups that make sense for your study.

You can create categories (and subcategories) to organize content by topic, study type, sermon series, date, or any method you prefer.

Each annotation can be assigned to one category at a time.

For the most streamlined experience, use the Notes section in the left sidebar.

Accessing Categories in the Sidebar

You’ll use these steps any time you want to view, create, edit, or delete categories.

  • Ensure your sidebar is open. The sidebar can be toggled by selecting this icon:

Once in Notes, you’ll see your existing categories and related options.

Create a Category

You can create a category while editing a note or from the sidebar.

While Editing a Note

Delete a Category

Important: Deleting a category also deletes any annotations inside it. Move or reassign those annotations first if you want to keep them.

  • Open the sidebar and go to Notes.

  • Select the 'i' icon to the right of the category you wish to delete.
