Within the Olive Tree Bible App, eBooks are just what you expect: an electronic book! Yet, in our app, eBooks offer deeper study features.
In the steps below, learn how to use eBooks easily in the Olive Tree Bible App. The screenshots and examples are from an iPad, but the functionality will be similar in all our apps.
For help downloading our app and/or books, please review our platform specific Help Articles here.
Open Your eBook
Any downloaded eBooks within your app will be available in your Library.
We have two different Library views: List and Grid. List View has a small cover image and the full text title displayed. Grid View is more compact with no text title displayed but a larger cover image. To change between these two views, tap on the Options icon in the upper right corner:
The above screenshots show how to change the Library view in the iPad app. The steps are similar in all our supported platforms. For more specific steps for your platform, please check out one of the Help Articles listed:
iPad/iPhone / Mac / Windows / Android
For this example, I have selected the eBook entitled Captivated:
When you select the cover image and/or title, this eBook will display in your main reading window.
Navigation
Besides simply scrolling through the eBook, you can easily use the Table of Contents to read a different section of the book. To access this, tap on 'Go To:'
Here you see the Table of Contents.
In this example, we have navigated to '3 Where, O Death, Is Your Victory':
Linked Verses
Most of our eBooks offer a feature called Linked Verses. You can see if your eBook has this feature by checking the product page as shown in this example:
This indicates that as you're reading along, you can simply tap on the hyperlinked verse referenced in the eBook to have a pop-up display of that verse.
Default Bible for Hyperlinks
You can also set a default Bible version for Linked Verses, so that your preferred translation displays in the pop-up window. Here are the steps to select a default Bible for hyperlinks:
- Tap the Settings icon on the toolbar (gear icon).
- Tap Advanced Settings.
- Tap Hyperlinks.
- Tap Default Bible for Hyperlinks.
- Tap your desired translation or tap on Last Opened Bible.
Please note that the above steps are for the iPad/iPhone app platform, so exact steps to change your Default Bible for Hyperlinks may vary.
