Categories and subcategories are tools for organizing your annotations. You can use them to sort your annotations by date, place, type of study, or any other method you choose. Annotations can only be tied to one category.
You can add annotations (notes, saved passages, and highlights) to categories. We suggest managing your categories in the Notes section of the Study Center.
Create a Category
You can create a category while editing a note in the Bible text or through the 'My Stuff' section of the Study Center.
While editing a note, follow these steps:
- Select the dropdown next to 'Note Category'.
- Select 'Create Category'.
- Enter a category name.
- If you want this to be a subcategory, choose a parent category.
- Select 'Create'.
To create a category through My Stuff, follow these steps:
- Open the Study Center by clicking the icon in the upper right corner of the app.
- Select 'My Stuff.'
- Select 'Notes'
- Select 'Add Category'
- Enter a category name.
- If you want this to be a subcategory, choose a parent category.
- Select 'Create'.
Edit a Category
You can edit the parent category and label of a category using these steps:
- Open the Study Center by clicking the icon in the upper right corner of the app.
- Select 'My Stuff.'
- Select 'Notes'
- Secondary click on the category and select 'Edit Category'.
Here you can change the name and choose a parent category if you'd like. Select 'Create' when you are finished editing the category.
Delete a Category
You can delete a category through the Menu. Please note that if you delete a category that has annotations in it, those annotations will also be deleted. You may need to move the annotations from the category before you can delete the category.
- Open the Study Center by clicking the icon in the upper right corner of the app.
- Select 'My Stuff.'
- Select 'Notes'
- Secondary click (or, hold 'control' and click) on the category and select 'Delete Category'.
- Select 'Delete' to confirm that you would like to delete the category.
