iPhone/iPad (OT 7.1)- Highlights and Highlighters

Verse or Text Based

There are two ways to create highlights within our app: word based and verse based. Word based highlights are created by selecting text and are tied to the resource that they are created in. Verse based highlights are created by tapping on a verse number. These highlights are tied to the verse number and will show across your downloaded Bible translations.

Create a Highlight

You can create a highlight when viewing text in your app. As mentioned above, these highlights can be tied to either a verse or text. Here are the steps you can follow to add a highlight:

  • Tap a verse number or select text.
  • Select Highlight from the pop-up menu.
  • Select the Highlighter color you would like to use.
  • The highlight should show in your text.

Edit a Highlight

Once a highlight is created, it can be located in the Menu by tapping Highlights. Tap the highlight color and scroll down to find the individual highlight. Tap the 'i' icon to the right of a highlight to open the edit window. Here you can change the label, assign the highlight to a category, change the highlighter color, and edit the tags. You can do these things by tapping the Settings icon in the upper right corner or by following these steps:

  1. Tap the Label field to change the label (title)
  2. Tap the Category field to choose a category.
  3. Tap the colored square to change the highlighter color.
  4. Tap '+ Add Tag' to add a tag.

Delete A Highlight

There are two ways to delete a highlight in our app. First, you can delete a highlight from within a resource:

  • Select the exact selection used to create the highlight.
  • Select Highlight from the pop-up menu.

  • Confirm that you would like to delete the highlight.

Second, you can delete a highlight through the Menu:

  • Locate the highlight you wish to delete.
  • Swipe from right to left across the highlight.
  • Select Delete.
  • Confirm that you would like to delete the highlight.

Create a Highlighter

While we provide a few different highlighters, you can create and customize highlighters to fit your preferences. To create a highlighter:

  • Tap the Menu icon.
  • Tap Highlights.
  • Tap Edit in the upper right corner of the menu.
  • Scroll to the bottom of the screen.
  • Tap Add Highlighter.

On the next screen, you can assign a label (title), choose highlight or underline, change the intensity of the color, and choose the color. Tap the back arrow in the upper left corner to save the highlighter. It will now appear as an option when you add a highlight in the text.

Edit a Highlighter

If you would like to change a highlighter, you can do so in the Highlighter window using these steps:

  • Tap the Menu icon.
  • Tap Highlights.
  • Tap the 'i' icon to the right of the highlighter.

There are a few different ways that you can customize your highlighter:

  1. Tap the Label field to change the label.
  2. Select Highlight or Underline to change the type.
  3. Change the intensity of your highlighter.

Delete a Highlighter

You can only delete highlighters that are not associated with highlights. If you have made highlights with the highlighter you want to delete, you will first need to edit or delete those highlights using the steps described above. Once you have done this, follow these steps to delete the highlighter:

  • Tap Menu.
  • Tap Highlights.
  • Swipe from right to left on the highlighter.
  • Tap Delete.
  • Confirm that you would like to delete the highlighter.
